Sleep Apnea Appliances

Custom oral appliances for mild to moderate sleep apnea — a comfortable alternative to CPAP.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a serious sleep disorder in which the airway repeatedly collapses during sleep, causing breathing pauses that disrupt sleep and deprive the body of oxygen. Left untreated, sleep apnea is associated with an increased risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.

For patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea, a custom oral appliance (mandibular advancement device) can be an effective, comfortable alternative to CPAP therapy. The appliance gently repositions the lower jaw and tongue to keep the airway open during sleep.

Sleep apnea must be diagnosed by a physician through a sleep study. We work with your physician to coordinate care.

2

Dental Evaluation

We evaluate your teeth, gums, and jaw joints to ensure you're a good candidate for an oral appliance.

3

Impressions & Measurements

Precise impressions and bite measurements are taken to fabricate a custom appliance.

4

Appliance Delivery

Your custom appliance is delivered and fitted. We make adjustments to optimize comfort and effectiveness.

5

Follow-Up

We schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your response to treatment and coordinate with your physician.

Is This Right for Me?

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Oral appliance therapy is most effective for patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea and for patients with severe sleep apnea who cannot tolerate CPAP. A sleep study and physician diagnosis are required before we can fabricate an appliance.
