Tooth-Colored Fillings

Repair cavities with natural-looking composite resin fillings that blend seamlessly with your smile.

Tooth-colored composite resin fillings are the modern standard for treating cavities. Unlike old-fashioned metal amalgam fillings, composite fillings match the natural color of your teeth, require less removal of healthy tooth structure, and bond directly to the tooth for added strength.

At Grandville Dental Health Center, we use only tooth-colored fillings for new restorations. If you have old metal fillings that are failing or that you'd like replaced for aesthetic reasons, we can discuss your options.

What to Expect

The Process

1

Anesthesia

Local anesthesia is administered to ensure complete comfort throughout the procedure.

2

Decay Removal

We carefully remove the decayed tooth structure, preserving as much healthy tooth as possible.

3

Tooth Preparation

The cavity is cleaned and prepared to receive the composite resin material.

4

Composite Placement

The tooth-colored composite resin is placed in layers and shaped to match the natural contours of your tooth.

5

Curing & Polishing

Each layer is hardened with a special curing light, then the filling is polished for a smooth, natural finish.

Is This Right for Me?

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Tooth-colored fillings are appropriate for most cavities in teeth that don't bear heavy chewing forces. Very large cavities or teeth under heavy stress may require a crown or other restoration. We'll recommend the most appropriate treatment for your specific situation.
